Great food!

Heirloom Bakery is one of my favorite haunts when I visit from New York City. The best way I can describe the food is good qualitied, healthy, and yet with enough Americana decadence (especially the desserts and pastries) to eat there on a regular basis without feeling like you'll die young...even though the wonderfully thick bacon might suggest that. The coffee is consistantly excellent. The fruits, vegetables, grains, and breads are creatively balanced and the prices are sensitive to the consumer. Half breakfast portions are available for those who need nutrition but not a farmer's portion. The staff are friendly and diverse. I only give 5 stars to obsessive high end restaurants so in this case, 4 stars is actually a better rating because Heirloom is down to earth and somewhere you can hang out on a regular basis. My brother and his poodles do.
