This restaurant has re-opened and it's as good as ever! The food, the wine, the service - all wonderful. Definitely give it a try!

I spent a weekend in Sparta and visited this restaurant 2 times. It was terrific. I have travelled to Spain several times, and I can honestly say their food was authentic. The chef is from Galicia, I believe. Regardless, great food and reasonable prices. SItuated next to the river, it is a cozy, casual dining experience. You won't regret!

What a find! Driving home from a weekend in the NC Mountains, we stopped at Rio Tapas Cafe just outside Downtown Sparta (East of downtown on US 21). We were delighted by the delicious and authentic Spanish food. The owners were our servers and they were very friendly and considerate. This is worth visiting if you are staying anywhere in the NC High Country.
