The Nuyorican Poets Cafe in NYC has been a hub for the vibrant poetry and spoken word scene, nestled in the historic Lower East Side. It's where I first delved into the world of poetry and spoken word back in the early 90s, soaking in the powerful performances by fearless activists like Sonia Sanchez and Amiri Baraka. The energy at the Cafe is palpable, with a diverse crowd coming together to share their art and support one another in a welcoming atmosphere.
