I purchased a Local Flavor certificate for this establishment worth $30 for $15 back in the spring before this whole Covid-19 thing took hold. I saw they were back up and running for take-out over the summer and the certificate was to expire soon, so I called to place an order. When I inquired as to using the certificate, I was politely informed by the woman on the phone that they were not accepting them on Friday's because of their volume of orders. I completely understood, as I knew many eateries were trying to get back on their feet at that time. I finally got back around to placing an order this Saturday afternoon around 2:00pm. I figured that would not be a "rush" time for them. When I called, their message stated that they were only doing curb side pick-up. I placed my order and was told to call them when I arrived. When I arrived and called them, I informed them that I had a certificate and should I text it to them along with my credit card number for the balance owed. I was then informed that they no longer accept these certificated. I asked how this could be and after receiving a completely unacceptable answer, I asked to speak to the owner. The woman stated she was an owner, but gave the phone over to a man. He told me they stopped taking them because they could not be "giving food away for free". I stated that I did not know the innerworkings of the certificates, but I thought they should honor it since they were the ones marketing their establishment. He stated that it is posted on their door and inside their establishment that they no longer honor their certificates. I told him that I got their phone number from the certificate and am not allowed inside by their policy, so how could I have known about these postings. He went on to tell me they have nothing to do with these certificates, they are marked by some large corporation and I needed to contact them. Realizing I was getting nowhere with him, I told him to cancel the order. He appeared shocked that I would cancel the order and said that he "already prepared the order" for which I replied "I already purchased the certificate". That is where he said "fine" and hung up. Mind you, had he offered me ANY consideration such as the $15 face value of the certificate (I would have foregone the "promotional" additional $15 value), a decent percentage discount OR some semblance of empathy regarding the situation, I would have paid him and moved on. Instead, we went to Sacco's on Meadow Ave. and placed an order. Sacco's never disappoints. It is my understanding that these promotional certificates are exactly that, "promotional"........ to get you into the establishment and build business. In this case, it did the exact opposite. I will never return to Electric City Subs in Scranton.

The best homemade sausage and meatballs in the area. I highly recommend this place.
