I am not a resident of Lancaster, SC but have family there and visit several times a year. Over the years I always have looked forward to eating at Leigh Anne's UNTIL YESTERDAY. My wife and I went in around 10:30 AM to have what we were anticipating to be a great breakfast - love those pancakes. Well, it turned into a nightmare!
We were seated in a booth next to a family of five - a man and woman and three boys probably six years to eleven. They were a bit routie but then it changed - a loud iPhone playing popular music, very uncommon behavior for a common public save such as a restaurant. It was loud enough everyone in our side of the restaurant was having to hear it. I ask the waitress to ask the parents to cut the music off - the lady responded by shouting to me "we might have if you ask us directly". They continued the music until they finished and left. I ask the manager to do something about it and she refused. The man of the group stopped by our table to tell us how disrespectful we were to them - he never acknowledged how inappropriate their actions were, he did say "you wouldn't have liked the boys arguing if I had cut the music off". Obviously, these parents can't control their children and all surrounding persons must suffer the consequences.
On top of this family and their loud music there was an older gentleman at the next booth across from ours who made TWO SPEAKER PHONE calls - not short calls where he was talking loudly AND you could clearly hear the other party's replies. This behavior was accepted and nothing was done about it. Not acceptable where I come from.
The bottom line, when you eat in a public restaurant I believe you should have the expectation that fellow diners respect that it is a shared space and that certain behaviors which are disruptive to other diners is not acceptable. You would also expect that if the diner doesn't comply to this norm the restaurant owner would help maintain an environment that is favorable to their business. This DID NOT OCCUR at Leigh Anne's yesterday!
You would hope that a restaurant would care about their reputation but Leigh Anne's appears NOT TO! I complained while the behavior was occurring and I complained at checkout. I ask to speak with the owner and was told he was not there but if I left my name and number he would contact me - HE DID NOT! I called again today and was told again he was NOT THERE - again I was told if I left my contact information he would contact me - HE HAS NOT!
The bottom bottom line - YOU CAN HAVE GOOD FOOD BUT IF THE DINING ENVIRONMENT IS "TERRIBLE" THE RESTAURANT IS SOMEWHERE I WONT BE GOING AGAIN!!!

I had lunch at Leigh-Anne's. This is a meat and three--traditional Southern fare. I had the fried chicken, macaroni, pinto beans, and green beans. Comes with sweet tea and a choice of cornbread, biscuits, or rolls. I chose cornbread. It was homemade and not sweet--just like I like it.
The fried chicken was how mama cooked it on her best days--light and crunch--perfect! So was the macaroni--homemade as well. The green beans and pinto beans were canned but nicely seasoned.
All in all, excellent--just what I was looking for.
