If you're looking for delicious Mexican food in Shelbyville, El Mexico is the place to go. The Carne Asada is flavorful with generous portions, and the chips and salsa are a tasty treat. The service is excellent, and the 2 for 1 draft beer special is a nice bonus.

Ate there tonight. It was very good. We had a good waiter. He was nice. The wait was long at times but as expected for a busy Thursday. God Bless! :)

Received $20 Gift Certificate for El Mexico for Christmas. Went to dinner 12/29/10. Bill was $17.34. Intended to take the $2.66 change and add 34 cents to it to leave a $3.00 Tip. The cashier took the $20 gift card and dinner ticket totaling $17.34 and said thank you. I asked for the change. He stated that there was no cash refund. Most restaurant Gift Certificates come in form of a Debit Card and the balance is left on the card to be used later and all other gift certificates that I have used where there was a balance, I received change.
DO NOT BUY A GIFT CERTIFICATE FROM EL MEXICO. IT IS A RIP-OFF. It also expires after 6 months.

El Mexico is a wonderful place to dine and be treated like family. The food and service are consistent, and you will not be disappointed!
