Our first visit to this hidden gem in downtown Madison was superb. We were there on Wednesday night, they feature a build your own paella and serve sangria (it's so good, fresh and crisp fruit). you get a menu, you write your name on it and then you mark what ingredients you like with lots of choices like octopus, conch, fava beans and rabbit (there is a lot of items to choose from). The paella was so good, it reminded me of a paella I had in Sevilla a couple years ago. Lots of flavor, a little spicy and big portion. Menu includes other items, steak, duck, salads, ... I will definitely go back.

This place deserves thumbs up! The place has been open for the past five years, and everytime we went there we were impressed with the innovations in the food. Le Chardonnay features innovative cuisine based on Classic European Bistro Fare paired with an eclectic selection of fine wines in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. With an emphasis on comfort food, high-end cooking and very reasonable prices Le Chardonnay is without a doubt Madison's restaurant of choice for us. Chef Sami delivers outstanding dishes that dazzle the palate at an agreeable price. The restaurant is a family run affair and it shows in the level of customer service and interest in ensuring that diners enjoy a great experience and return again and again. Chef is often in the dining room ensuring that customers are satisfied with their choices. I recommend this place for anyone interested in a great fine dining experience!
