If you're simply looking for the best Italian food in Indianapolis, then Enrico's is the place to go. This place doesn't put on airs with it's appearance. It's in an old commercial building tucked on a side road near Broadripple and Keystone. It really doesn't look like much from the outside. The entrance has a small waiting area filled with mismatched chairs. Mismatching seems to be a theme here, where the dishes are often served on random mismatched plates that look like they were found at a thrift store. It works, though. The mismatching creates the perfect blend of elegance and homeyness. The decor is quaint and the atmosphere is quiet and pleasant. The wait staff is fantastic. But the crown jewel here is the food. It's nice to see a restaurant that truly values the quality and flavor of their food over having a fancy appearance. So many places seem to do the opposite, having beautiful decor and beautifully plated food that doesn't taste nearly as good as it looks. Here, the plating is not fancy, often almost rustic, but the flavor of the food is perfect and the portion is hearty. Entrees are served with your choice of either soup or salad. I recommend the soup, whatever it is that day. The chef here is a master when it comes to soups. If you love food, then this is the place for you.
