08/16/2010 - Disappointed Customer
Found out recently this favorite chinese restaurant of ours has closed. When you call the number the people answer the phone "Happy Happy", but in reality they are the new "Amber Cuisine" chinese, japanese restaurant. When I asked if this was Happy Happy Shanghai cafe they said "No, they closed, but you can still order off their menu." Ok. I did. Received my delivery. How disappointing. Utterly and truly. These new owners need to understand that they absolutely CAN NOT represent themselves as Happy Happy or tell people they can still order off Happy Happy's menu, because their food does not even remotely come close to the quality or standard that Happy Happy served. Ordered sweet and sour chicken, rice and wontons. While the chicken was tender and the batter was light, there was absolutely NO flavor whatsoever to it. Their sweet and sour sauce?? Wow...it's supposed to be a bright red and slightly syrupy. This was pale pink at best. Did you water this down?? Also, there was only a hint of flavor in that sauce. Wontons?? Happy Happy had the absolute most outstanding cheese wontons I've ever come across. Amber Cuisine? Ugh. What 'filling' was in there, was 'fishy'. I could not even finish one of them. Threw the whole bag of wontons away. I despise seafood. It makes me ill. Make sure your customers know these are NOT cheese wontons. Sad to say that was the first and last time I will order from them. That's my two cents.
