I have been enjoying Mexican cuisine lately and decided to try Rose Cafe for their famous chile relleno. Despite the cold January weather, I opted to sit inside the cozy restaurant rather than by the inviting fire pit outside. The spicy margarita with Tajin on the rim and the birthday shot of Hornitos Reposado added a nice touch to the meal, complemented by the warm ambiance and attentive service. The chile relleno combo with a cheese enchilada, rice, beans, and sour cream was a delicious choice, reminiscent of comforting homemade dishes.

We were a group of 8 so did not think much of waiting 30 minutes to have our order taken while we munched on chips and salsa. The server first words to us were no substitutions, could not serve enchiladas without red sauce and totally negative. After waiting 50 minutes for our food we asked why the delay. We were told that the cooks had gotten into a fight. (Not making this up). We had to wait another 10 minutes for the last of our order. Food was cold, had been under the heat lamps for so long the easy over eggs were hard boiled, the beans had a crust over them, the tortillas were cold and hard, rice was flavorless, the enchiladas tasted like they were made with canned sauce. To top it off the bill included a 20% gratuity!!!

Service is terrible, except for the young lady. Our waiter left for the evening and no one ever came back to our table. The food was not good, the beef and potato tacos were mushy and the guacamole tasted old. The chips are bland and the salsa flavorless. The food was barely warmed. It's been a year since we visited and it was bad then but thought we'd give it another try this will be the last time we go. I prefer the location on Haley Street everyone is pleasant and attentive, the food is tasty too.
