Smokehaus is incredibly unclear in their pricing over phone. Admittedly, until I got the call with cost of my whole cow cut I never went on their website; I had gotten prices over the phone (where no minimum charges were ever mentioned unlike others I called). I will lay fault on not knowing that for livestock pricing of that on me though any other butcher I called indicated if they had minimum prices and what they were.

That said; I asked about adding on beer sticks as lady on phone had said that was a thing. I got told it was 2.95/lb with a 25lb minimum order; $73.75 total. They said for that they take some of my meat with pork to make them. Never mentioned that said pork is an additional charge, never mentioned that they must package them in a type of packaging that costs extra. This is never indicated on their website as I checked it today. These extra services cost another $54.25, almost 75% more cost than what I expected without indicator anywhere on website. If I had known the actual price is closer to $5.12/lb not $2.95/lb as they advertise I wouldn’t have chosen such services.

Besides their lacking clarity there are issues with the order itself. I ordered all the innards of my cow and it is clearly marked on their cut sheet but they were not apart of the order I received. Luckily, when I called they realized this error and put together organs however a second trip to pick up what I should have gotten in the first place and not get them from my own animal is incredibly frustrating.

Additionally, I find concerns in their amount of waste from hang weight to finished product. The initial hang weight was 329lb and ending weight of trim and cuts was just over 220lb. I asked some of my coworkers at my job and friends with more experience with beef and they agreed with what the internet indicated that waste is typically 25%, not over 33% such as this case. For an experienced company to be unable to utilize a carcass to typical standard makes the price on the order more costly as the customer ends up with even less meat than expected.

Honestly, I will be going to another butcher next time and anyone going to them I suggest being careful and triple checking what actual charges of their services are. My experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. I’m sure their products ready made in store are quite delicious based on my beer sticks however their lacking communication and blunders with my order does not make me want to return nor recommend them for livestock services.

this place is way over priced, the female part owner dose not have a clue how to work with the publics, very disrespectful, as soon as things don't go the way she thinks it should , starts hollering .i don't like your attitude. well the only one with attitude is her . im 75 years old and had to look at her sideways a lot of times over the years, ATTITUDE . well my dad used to say if you keep your mouth shut no one knows how stupid you are , well i showed respect ,but none was given , and after her mouth kept running i knew what my dad meant, buy the way this all started over them taking 3 months to make sausage out of 45 lb of meat , that was returned after paying 216 .00 for boning and skinning a deer .and 20.00 for a used cardboard box . and they advertise serious get discount . oh ya i can feel it ,in my butt . TRENT open your eyes . save your business. all they had to do was tell me up front that it would be a long time to get done ,but nothing was said , to bad BAD ATTITUED | OH SORRY MUST BE THE COVID LOL |

The meat is good I’ll give them that but very over priced. I purchased a half cow and a pig. When receiving the cow parts of the meat were missing I only received a tiny little chunk of tenderloin as well as other parts of the meat from the cow were small. I’ve purchased a half cow before from other places so I know what should have been there. If you purchase from here make sure you ask for a spreadsheet on what you should get. When me and my wife purchased the beef we asked for a spreadsheet several times and kept getting excuse after excuse even upon picking up our order but we didn’t think anything of it. Then we arrive home only to realize we didn’t receive any of our side pork from the whole pig we purchased. We called them to let them know. They apologized for the mistake but it’s an hour drive for us so it was kind of an inconvenience. Then because of the inconvenience they gave us a couple of pieces of jerky for the trouble lol. Again the meat is good and I’m not trying to cause trouble for them at all but if you buy from here make sure your getting a spreadsheet and that your getting what you pay for because it is expensive. I’m left wondering what there doing with the extra meat? Am I the only one this happens to and if I’m not are they selling the meat, like where’s it going ?
