Unfortunately, I can't give this zero stars, but I guess the one star works for the food part.
Normally, Airport Diners are aviation themed and often friendly for pilots
flying in. This restaurant has a picture of a F-14 at sea level painted on the wall next to the bar, and that's it. Okay, I guess not all restaurants on an airport are going to have an airport theme.
First off, this is a 21+ bar, so don't bring your kids.
Secondly, the staff is rude and unattentive. I went in there on a Sunday afternoon, and it was pretty crowded. No one to point out a table, I asked, they said sit anywhere I wanted. I found a table, sat down and waited, and waited. Finally, waiter came over, took my drink order, ice tea. Asked for sweetener, but he didn't bring any with it. Ordered a sandwich and fries. Here's the kicker.
NO NAPKINS!
NO SILVERWARE!
NO Condiments (salt and pepper)
NO TIME DID THE WAITER COME BACK TO CHECK ON ME! Luckily, I had a couple of paper towels I had been using for something else in my pocket to use.
I tried getting their attention, but no one noticed. Yes, I could have gotten up and gone to the bar or serving area, but why? They are there to serve me, not self-serve.
I finally got the waiters attention by waving my debit card at him. He brought the bill, I paid it, and on the way out, I stopped at the bar and told the bartender that their service sucked, and why, and I wouldn't be back. Her reply was a smart-assed 'well, okay then!'
Seriously, people, if you can't have at least halfway decent customer service, you're not going to get people to come back.
As I said, the place WAS busy, but from the way staff was interacting with them, you could tell they were regulars. There were a couple of people who also came in, looking for tables, wandering around, not being helped. I think they finally left.
If you want an airport diner, don't go to Thun Field in Puyallup, WA, looking for anything special. Better to walk a few hundred yards to the Red Robin across the street from the airport.
I will say, the Club Sandwich I got wasn't actually all that bad, but the service left a sour taste in my mouth.
Don't go to this place unless you like dive bars.
