BEWARE! Don't take a walk into Ballard with your dog and enjoy a cup of coffee here! They might call Animal Control and have your pooch removed if Fifi or Fido doesn't meet their beauty standards. My dog, an elderly gentle golden, loves courting admirers outside coffee shops (or at age 16, mostly just another nap somewhere else than home). When Ballard Coffee Works reported him "abandoned" (despite the collar tags with my cell number!) I was 10 feet away inside their coffee shop! No, admitted the barista, no one bothered to ask "Is this someone's dog?" or read his tags. He said the manager felt the dog "did not look good" because he has some patches of fur missing, moves creaky... Like, he looked old? That was such an emergency she couldn't look for an id tag? Don't you know what can happen to dogs his age that get carted to the pound?!?! at which point he looked sincerely sorry, and called the manager, who tried lecturing at me while I was on phone with Animal Control. FYI, know-it-all, it takes A LOT of TLC to raise a golden retriever to be 16 and still able to walk a mile to a coffee shop! I hope when you have arthritis and skin problems, you end up with caregivers more like you than me. I'd have been happy to take my "ugly" dog elsewhere had you simply leaned your head into your own shop and asked! I hope this review will prevent any other customers having to go through this.

Coffee costs a fortune! Baristas seem really unhappy. Manager is a total jerk.
