We've been eating here for years and have never had a meal that was not at the least very good. The food is not average taqueria style Mexican food. There are two very different and tasty enchiladas mole, and the mole poblano is excellent. Vegetarians will enjoy the chayote relleno or spinach enchiladas. I really like the Arborl Chile hot sauce served with the chips, it's incredible. I am originally from a Texas border town and El Toreador serves food that is just like what I have had while traveling in Mexico.

Food is above avrege. Service is below avrege. San Francisci has many top mexican resturants. This one is not in the top ten.

The food is consistently excellent. Service is either friendly or snobby; mostly the latter.
Cute atmosphere- wish they delivered though.

I have yet to try the horchata, but the burritos are bland -- possibly the worst I've ever tasted. I would speculate that this place survives solely on foot traffic; their decor screams "Fiesta!" Also, I've noticed that there are NEVER any Mexicans in here...only Anglos and Asians. It's too bad, 'cause this neighborhood could use some Latin flavor.
