We have visited Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for many years, and we try very hard to eat with local restaurants. This time, we tried Howard's for the first time. We entered and were seated right away, but waited for over 10 minutes before someone greeted our table. Then we flagged down another waitress to let them know we haven't been helped, seemed no one was assigned our table. We ordered an appetizer, the fried mushrooms, they were really good. When our meal arrived, it wasn't as desirable, presentation was lack luster and one of the meals was cold, as if it was prepared while the other plate was still being cooked. We received the check and was shocked at the cost for two meals and appetizer, really over priced for the quality. $101.85 was the bill, but after reading closely, they included a "suggested" tip of 20%. We were not impressed by our waitress, when restaurants are busy, we do not hold that person responsible and give the benefit of the doubt. However, as stated, we were seated immediately and they were very slow. We watched a number of very young waitresses talking and watching the tv in the bar area. So after seeing the suggested tip, I believe it should be based on the level of service. This time I felt as if the waitress knew her tip was guaranteed so she did not have to take care and provide us good service. Since the bill said "suggested" tip, we reduced to 15%, which is lower than our usual 20-25%. After we gave the waitress the money for the bill and started to leave, she shouted that we did not pay the bill in full. This was completely unprofessional, however, I did not have an issue explaining why we left a lower payment which included tip. She proceeded to guide me to the front register where she continued to say I was not paying my bill and she would be responsible for the difference. I explained that I did not feel she earned the 20% and it was suggested. I ended up giving the other 4 dollars to close the bill, but expressed our frustration and displeasure for this billing technique. I caution everyone to review and be aware that this restaurant practices this billing technique. Waiters and waitresses should earn their tips based on their efforts provided. I do not plan to visit this restaurant again in the future.

When to Howard's on 6-10-16 the service was the worst experience that we have had in Gatlinburg. We sit there for a hour and a half waiting on fried mushsrooms and chicken tenders the service was bad we just got up and left the drinks had no alcohol in the had to send them back for
