Visit to an iconic Appalachian hospitality venue totally destroyed by inept waitress and insulting owner. Had a reservation, waited hour and a half with 25% of the establishment empty. When seated, requested for two friends who had been waiting for an extra hour to be included at table for four. Was called a liar and a bully by the owner, caused by waitress’ s meltdown. Asked to leave as we were taking up time and attention from other people in establishment. While waiting, there was a group of 12-15 people enduring a long wait outdoors and no recognition of this, with reservations. At least 8 left while we were there. Many fond memories of previous times under other management of The Wild Plum. So sad to see the degrading depths it has sunk. For the record, I am a 60 + grandmother as were two of the other ladies, all four of us brought up and taught Southern manners and etiquette. We certainly did not deserve the discrimination exhibited by the owner and staff. Went to another facility in the area, The Split Rail, and enjoyed excellent customer interaction and cuisine.
