For 20+ years Swad (first in Austin, now after their move to Round Rock) was my favorite go-to for masala dosa. Was unprepared for yesterday's disappointing meal. Had the crepe been any darker it would have been burnt. Potato filling tasted like it was prepped days ago. Sambar was great.
Nobody smiled back at us.
Mr. & Mrs. Patel are in India, our server told us. If we ever go back will make sure to call ahead. Mrs. Patel is always so friendly as is her husband.
Keeping all three TVs blaring a cricket match didn't add to the atmosphere, or lack of it.
This was funny as in funny-odd: When my husband pointed to a photo on the wall of a sandwich and asked for it; our waiter said sandwiches were only available on special occasions. Yet the young couple sitting next to us -- who arrived after we did -- were served three sandwiches as were the family to our left. Tis a puzzlement.
Looked Swad up just now; of 3 restaurants who failed their health dept inspection a while back, Swad had the worst score.
