Heading home from SPI and wanted to stop for lunch so we pulled into The Gumbo Seafood restaurant in Refugio.
We were greeted by friendly staff and picked our seat. Our waitress was very friendly and suggested two dishes for us, one of which we selected to share: the broiled seafood plate, which consisted of a large piece of tilapia, a skewer of four shrimp and a skewer of four scallops with grilled vegetables, and rice. Everything was cooked "just right" and seasoned to perfection. Nothing overcooked! There was plenty of food for both of us to have a good lunch without being too full for our long drive ahead. Chips and salsa and a salad bar were also included. With two waters, our bill was just $15!
We highly recommend you stop in for a meal the next time you're in or near Refugio. We certainly will!
