While traveling, I always make it a point to seek out local spots for a bite to eat. The Rock Inn Cafe in Memphis, Texas, was a gem with a cozy atmosphere and delicious, homestyle cooking that hit the spot. The service was warm and attentive, just like you'd expect in a Southern eatery, making it a must-visit if you're passing through the area.

The food was OK at best. Chicken fried steak was very tough. Gravy was Ice Box Cold. Ordered bread after finding out it did not come with any. Received it after I was finished eating. No drink refills. Food as was almost as bad as the Waitresses attitude as well as the cashiers, that threw my money on the counter after I caught a charge on my ticket that was not supposed to be there.

DONT DO IT!!!!!! I ordered breakfast which was mediocre at best. Hash browns were sitting in grease and almost burned, eggs and toast were ok. I asked for crispy bacon, and emphasized it twice when ordering, but got sloppy bacon instead. Coffee was luke warm and had to ask for a refill each time. Was given old jelly that came out of package like rubber. My friend ordered a chef salad which came with old browning lettuce some ham and no cheese or egg. I keep hearing people wanting to order the brisket which they do not have and from reading other reviews (which I highly recommend) they have not had brisket for months. AND THE FLYS!!! All over the place and when the cook comes from the back holding a fly swatter, that says it all. I was hoping to be able to have something great to say about the service but I am sitting here still waiting on my check without her insight for awhile. Instead of waiting on check. I just went to cashier to pay. Pass this restaurant up. Will be the best thing you ever did

I have eaten at this restaurant 3 X's and was never given a disappointing meal. If you were not satisfied with your order, you probably didn't order what you really wanted. Best chicken fried steak and gravy ever!
