This isn't fine dining, it's a "mom n pop" kind of place. You're going to have varying portions & varying sizes of tortillas. You're gonna get better service if you go between meal times, and i personally like the morning cook's style more than the evening cook. When they're really busy the girls who work there 6 days a week all day may not have the energy to smile, but don't confuse that with them being rude. I've been coming to this restaurant since it opened, and the quality has been about the same since. They haven't raised prices, even though their costs have increased dramatically with the recent double dip recession. Yeah, they may give you less guacamole when you add it on for $.50, but seriously, if you want a ton of guac on your taco or nachos or whatever just buy the side portion for $1.75 and stop complaining.

We used to go to the Magues in Boerne. We also have gone to the one in Bulverde for 8+ years. They actually used to be ok. Now the service is bad and so is the food.


If you order bean and cheese nachos, it is not unreasonable to expect beans and cheese on every chip. If you order bean and cheese and guacamole nachos, you actually get 6 bean and cheese nachos and 6 bean and cheese nachos with a little bit of guacamole. When asked if that was the normal amount, the waitress said was "oh that's the way we do it, we just dab a little on". Huh?


The tacos were also lame and small. A different girl at the register had the same answer when we complained. We normally tip 20 to 25 percent, but "just dabbed a little bit on".


We brought a very large group here a year ago and had a bad experience. We thought we might give them another chance. We are done.


Don't bother.
