It's been decades since I last had a meal here as a youngster, but stepping back in felt like a time warp - in a good way. The flavors of the chili Mac are just as I remember, and the service from folks like June Bug really adds that local charm that keeps me coming back. Ideal's got that special touch that makes dining here a truly nostalgic experience, with hearty portions and a welcoming atmosphere that make it a true gem in this part of town.

I love going to Ideal Hot Dog...breakfast anytime, prices are great, Chili Mac is awesome...several options on how you want it...even willing to put a BIB on you if you so desire. The wait staff is on the ball...always there when your drink gets low...very friendly and great attitudes. Check out is easy, even give you cash back for the tip if you want it.

My 92 year old Mom decided to treat me to dinner at Ideal Hot Dog. She ordered french fries and they came soaked in grease. They clearly had been cooked once and then thrown back in to re-heat. I spoke up for her and they took them back. We never received the bill from the waitress so we walked to the register to pay. Mom was walking ahead of me with money in her hand. The guy just started ring things up. My Mom said, “You gave me my senior discount didn't’t you” and he fired back. ” You need to tell me that before I ring things up, the machine does all the work, I’ll take 50cents off your meal only”. I was shocked at his attitude towards a senior. First they tried to get her to eat old greasy food and then he yelled at her. Clearly when she was walking to the register, he knew she was a senior. We came away with a new attitudes towards Ideal Hot Dog. They don’t need our money anymore.
