Great All You Can Eat Japanese Food
Bad location, great food, thanks to the other reviewers who pointed me to this place.
I had high expectations for this place, but at least for the AYCE the fish isn't the freshest, it's still good but not amazingly fresh. Tokachi in Surrey still is my favorite place for the freshest fish I've ever tasted in BC.
They may just save the freshest fish for their special rolls and not for the AYCE which is fair enough. They have awesome creative rolls but we didn't get a chance to try those, other patrons were ordering off the menu more than going for the AYCE as well.
All prices are reasonable here and they have good daily specials.
I didn't really like the miso soup here, it was too salty and didn't come with mini-cubes of tofu.
The salad's here are beautiful in fact their food presentation for all dishes is a strong point.
There was a few slices of strawberry, matchstick cucumbers, slices of red delicious apple and some greens.
For the AYCE the sunomono is huge and was piled with ample baby shrimp as well as the same garnishes as the green salad. In fact I usually order 2 or more sunomono at AYCE and I could barely finish the one here.
There is a decent selection on their AYCE, if there's something not on there that you might like, suggest it to the server and they may include it, this was a nice point of going to a small restaurant.
The rolls are almost like nigiri here for the AYCE as they are ordered by piece vs by a whole roll and they are overstuffed with rice so don't order too many.
There's no limit on the sashimi and I liked that it's cut smaller but not too small.
The spicy terriyaki chicken was tasty.
My favorite thing here was their tempura, it was delicious and light. They offer a great selection for tempura including zucchinni, red snapper, salmon, shrimp, squid etc. Usually I stay away from fried foods but it was so tasty here.
At around $20 per person for the AYCE it was a good value and as it's a smaller restaurant it was nice to have AYCE in a less busy & relaxed location. Their staff is friendly and they are generous as when we asked for the bill they looked confused and asked if we wanted to order more food.
At the beginning I wasn't very wowed by the food because while the salad and sunomono were beautifully presented their taste wasn't spectacular but average. However overall everything tasted good and by the end of the meal we were satisfied and will definately be returning.
