Since the new owner bought Jack's Family Restaurant, it has gone down hill!!! I will never go there again after patronizing it for over 20 years! The place has changed so much and not for the better! Food is just so, so and the prices are outrageous! Service sucks. I have spoke with several former waitresses that worked there while it was Jack's (now it's Crabtown) and they all quit not long after it was sold! I would never recommend this place to anyone! So sorry to see a landmark go out this way!

Went to breakfast this morning, buffet bar caught on fire! No smoke or fire detector sounded. No sprinkler system nor fire extinguisher in sight. We, customers helped to extinguish fire. Not a word was spoken about it to customers! No we're sorry or sorry for the inconvenience!!! To boot. The server charged me for the wrong bill and couldn't credit my account until someone comes in later on!

Jack’s
1405 East Pembroke Ave.
Dear Jack and/or owners,
Your restaurant is a landmark, but it is not being well-maintained. We noticed today somebody did weed-eat the grass in some places, but it is not enough to look good. The sidewalks and around the driveways need to be cleaned and carefully edged. There is built up and neglected grass growing in the parking lot.
Take some pride in your facility. It used to look better. If you need to have the parking lot spaces repainted and the medians, then do that.
Make sure the flag on top is clean and new-looking. Nothing worse than a dirty US flag. It seems like you got some new awnings. They look nice. You can make it a charming place again. ( PS: Do you know why that bowling alley closed? It is decrepit and not cared for. Why would anyone run a business in the ground like that, then whine about it in the newspaper? )
Inside your restaurant, last time we went in was a few months ago, it was just decrepit. Old crap everywhere, dirty ceilings, that old dark paneling from the 1950s. Dirty window glass, dust and stuff built-up. Place looks old and worn out. Take a look and what do you see? Get a clipboard and make a list. You may be overlooking things.
The old booths + the tables are fine; as long as something is clean, it is fine. It is the rest of the place that needs attention. Old dirty paint, dirty glass windows, dirty junk piled up….these things are not acceptable to the general public.
If the restaurant is making any money at all, then you can afford to update the inside. It will encourage people to return. Right now, we are not going back to a dirty looking place. You can make a retro 1950’s restaurant look good. Yes you can.
You have a great reputation, a wonderful location and you are part of Hampton history, so spruce up the place and make it a treat to go to Jack’s once again. Best wishes.
Sincerely,
Your fellow citizens.

Best cheeseburger (all the way) that you can get.

I gave this restaurant 2 stars because the food was edible and the wait staff seemed nice enough. The food just seemed to have no flavor and was over priced. $5 for a hot ham and cheese sandwich is not worth it at all. This price does not come with fries or chips or anything. This was my first visit and my last. I am just glad that I tried this place before I brought the whole family and spent way too much money.
