Helvetia is a small, rural town with a population of under 100, where the dining experience at the Hutte feels like a nostalgic journey into the past. The restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere with a variety of homemade dishes, including delicious meats and peach cobbler, all served by friendly staff who enhance the welcoming ambiance.

Man, Helvetia is like stepping into a time machine, with its old-school vibes and rustic charm. The Hutte restaurant has different rooms that give you a cozy and private dining experience, each with its own unique decor. The sampler platter they had that day was killer - loaded with flavorful meats and a slice of real Swiss cheese, not to mention the peach cobbler and drink that came with it! So if you're looking for a unique spot with tasty homemade food and a touch of history, definitely swing by Helvetia's Hutte Restaurant.

You will honestly think that you'll never get there, but it's a beautiful drive and definitely worth the trip. Delicious Swiss food and the world's best peach cobbler! The restaurant is charming and the people are wonderful. It is a personal fave!

The Hutte in Helvetia, WV is a quaint century old farmhouse turned restaurant in an rural hilly area settled by the Swiss around 1860. The Hutte situated by a small brook with rocky banks is cozy and beautiful. When the sun sinks low the wild animals (deer, ducks and rabbits, etc.)come out to play. The Huttes interior dcor is mostly antiques, and most of them looks like they could have belonged to the original settlers. My friend (Marie) from Hagerstown, and myself (Paulette) from Arlington, VA, traveled to our hometown of Buckhannon where we were joined by several of my family members from the Buckhannon area. We drove the curvy, twisting 20 plus miles to the Hutte on July 20th, 2011 for a birthday celebration for my nephew. Everyone loved the cheese and bread, the salad was fresh, and the dressing was YUMMY, YUMMY. We highly recommend the sauerkraut, bratwurst, & rosti (fried potato patties), but suggest that more than one side dish be offered (not everyone has a taste for peas). A few years ago I had the pleasure of dining by the pot belly stove as I gazed at a snowy scene through the window..a beautiful sight. Utterly secluded, but definitely worth the trip.
Please take note:
With the summer evening temps hovering in the high 90s we were surprised to find there was no air-conditioning, therefore, our advice is to plan to dine at the Hutte when the temps are a bit cooler. There are a limited number of sleeping rooms over the restaurant, reservations are required.

We've been going to the Hutte for years and are never disappointed. The food is homemade Swiss/German and the best. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming as are the staff. It's a long ride from the Interstate but sooooo worth it.

The road going in was something else. But The Hutte Restaurant was worth the ride. The place is something else. As cool and neat as it gets here on the planet. Food was great and Kayla was a very friendly waitress. Thank you for having a place like this for travelers to go.

Traveled to Helvetia, WV, today and ate dinner at The Hutte Restaurant. Food was authentic Swiss/German and quite enjoyable. I enjoyed the brautwurst meal with kraut. Many years ago, I lived in Europe, and I have to say that this food was comparable! Building is old and historical, cozy and filled with antiques. You have a choice of rooms to dine. Nice quiet, private, quaint and cozy dining experience for our anniversary!

Quaint restaurant with great service. Owned by a wonderful lady who has her granddaughter assist her. Several cozy rooms, warm fire, great hospitality, and delicious Swiss food. The best sauerkraut we have ever eaten along with all the other goodies. A great experience and we highly recommend a visit...not only will you come away with a full and satisfied tummy, but you will learn about how Helvetia was settled and how its heritage lives on today.
