We were traveling through Kingwood in route to Deep Creek Lake, MD and stopped for gas. I went into the convenience store at the station and asked the cashier what the best lunch restaurant in Kingwood was. The cashier and two customers standing behind me said "Monroe's"!!! We took there advice and they were absolutely right. The menu was diverse, the staff was extraordinarily friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. Monroe's is now going to be a staple on our drives to and from Deep Creek Lake.

My husband and I love stopping in for a cozy meal with fast, friendly service. The hot and tasty food, reasonable prices, and welcoming atmosphere keep us coming back.

We have never had a bad experience at Monroe's. Pleasant staff, great food, and well priced. Highly recommend this restaurant when dining out.

At the start of the meal it was fine and the waitress was nice but I'm still only putting a 1 star, wish I could put no stars. This absolutely ruined the experience completely. We ordered potato skins, which was good. Then for the entrees which is the down fall along with the owner Jimmy.
Me and my fiance got chicken Alfredo and shrimp scampi. We started eating and found out that the noodles in both meals was undercooked, the Alfredo sauce in my meal was bland and gritty, the broccoli in my Alfredo was over cooked. So we told a different waitress about it being nice about it. She seemed irritated about it and got the manager. Well here comes Jimmy (The owner) to ask whats wrong with the meals. So I calmly explained the issue and was fairly nice about it. Well I guess I hurt his feeling or offended him because he stated with an attitude "well were famous for our Alfredo sauce! And if the broccoli was overcooked then it would be shriveled up." And proceeded with an attitude telling me that is my opinion.
Long story short we will not be returning!
THAT ATTITUDE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE CRITICISM IS GOING TO BE THE DOWN FALL OF A RESTAURANT.
Someone needs a visit from Chef Gordon Ramsey!
