The burgers here are absolutely fantastic, and the drive is well worth it for such delicious food. Although the service could use some improvement, the friendly atmosphere and great menu options make this a place I will definitely return to.

If you do not LOVE the breakfast and the hotdog/hamburger lunch, you must not be from the United States. My office is nearby and the owner Bob, arrives at 4:30 am to start the grits and bacon. The lunch special of burgers and fries are cooked to order, but without delay. The fries are hot, the drinks are cold, and good luck finding a breakfast or lunch this good, at this price! Yes, no credit cards. But an ATM is just outside the door. I found this same policy in the Florida Keys; It is refreshing and cool. Nice original casual atmosphere. I challenge you to see if your coffee or drink runs low. The best of the best.

Although I appreciate the predictability of a chain, I really love the charm of a privately owned "hole in the wall" restaurant like saltworks. I like that it is nestled in a residential community - makes the dining experience cozy - like going over to a friend's house for breakfast. My son and I ate there on a Saturday morning in february. The food was great (the corned beef hash was was excellent different from the type restaurants generally serve). I was pleasantly surprised to see that they serve mimosas! I'll return soon to try the shrimp and grits. The servers were friendly and attentive.

Bob and the crew at Salt Works are the best! Food is excellent and the fries are always hot and you get a ton! Love this little hole in the wall!!! :)

This is a great place to eat. It's the kind of places that you relax enjoy your food. The people are nice, the burger are delicious, but what I like best is that their Fry's are always crisp, and hot.

I have to say that the review below mine is just rude and she doesn't make one valid criticism just saying a place looks like a place for homeless people only places the negative back on you sweetheart. Making rude comments about the Homeless is mean and shows your education or lack of... Not nice or classy to be so negative

I have to say, enough is enough. Food is NASTY. Over priced, the whole place looks like a place for homeless people and actually, I think it is. I am disgusted that I even went there.

My boyfriend & I had been shopping for several hours at Independence Mall in Wilmington & asked a clerk in Belks to suggest somewhere different, but good to eat close by. She suggested Salt Works. We were not disappointed!! We just so happened to get there just before closing time. My boyfriend asked if they were still serving. After checking with the owner or manager they said for us to come on in. I don't think some of the staff was too happy about us coming in after closing time, but the gentleman told them that they were serving us because we were hungry & may become regular customers. That we will! I don't know too many places that show that much hospitality! He had the hamburger steak, mashed potatoes w/gravy, collard greens, and I had a hamburger & fries.. plus they served rolls & hushpuppies before the meal arrived. Let me tell you folks!!! This food was out of this world delicious!! This will definitely be a regular dining spot for us when we are in Wilmington! Thank you again Salt Works for the great meal & letting us eat even though you were all worn out & ready to shut down for the evening!

Salt Works is wonderful!
My husband and I have never gotten anything but excellent food and service. Veggie pita and Maggies meatless burger is excellent!

This place is the best in town. You always get the very best food and from the people who work there. I have been eating there since I was a kid in the mid 1970's.

Saltworks and altworks 2 are not owned by the same people. Thats why saltworks 2 sucks!!! Go to the original saltworks on Oleander. 100 healt score
